A lot of these things you can do in Madrid whether on weekdays or during weekend. Leisure and cultural activities at any time of the day.
There are almost an obligatory visits like:
Strolling in the center (heart) of Madrid, visiting the Plaza Mayor, the Puerta del Sol, the Royal Palace, the Madrid of the Austrians, the remodelled market of San Miguel. Infinite things to see while having a pleasant sightseeing.
The Rastro market. Declared as “Patrimonio Cultural del Pueblo de Madrid” , every Sunday mornings, thousands of countrymen and visitors are going to the Rastro, where you can encounter the most various products, and to end having lunch in the sides around the Plaza Mayor , of the typical bocadillo de calamares.
Museums. No one can resist not to go to the Del Prado Museum, Thyssen Bornemiza Museum or to the Queen Sofia Museum. Other recommended sites are the Caixa Forum or the Royal Theater.
The Retiro park, perfect for relaxing and resting far from the noise of the great city.
Talking about the musicals. The Hostal Santillan has a strategic position if you want to come and enjoy any of these shows. The Gran Via street is likely known as the Broadway Madrileño and always there is more than one great musical show.
If what you want is go shopping, Madrid is full of stores of all types. In the Puerta del Sol and its surroundings is a of stores. Just like in the Fuencarral street, now it is turned to a sidewalking to facilitate those late afternoon shopping. And in the barrio Salamanca, called the Miles of Gold, where all signature products can be found.
Coming with kids? Perfect, because there are a lot of things we can offer to them. The Zoo, Faunia, el Parque de Atracciones, el Parque Warner…but also there are theaters for them, routes in family, the Museum of Wax…..
And at night…What do you like? There are a lot to choose. Concerts, flamenco, grand discohouses and a lot of nightplaces to go for all types of want.
Also, you can have excursions in Toledo, Avila, Segovia…..if you want to know more about the center of the peninsula.
